Would love to see you guys test the AK Interactive Weathering Pencils!
This gold looks so good, very tempted to get some of these! Great vid, thanks!
Is there a video where you paint those blue miniatures in the background? They look nice
Hey! Can you pls do a Testing video for ak interactive real Color markers? :)
Best suggestion …. Get some Fexofenadine antihistamine’s for that hayfever 😂 they’re life changing!! Trust me! 😂
Could you please show the differences between going super bright and not quite super bright in normal lighting? Ive found that a lot of people trying to emulate this style make armies that look good in studio style lighting but become brown mush in neutral lighting.
Looks very nice! Can't wait to try them out once they are available.
Nice vid! I´d really like to see a video on working with oil washes from scratch! like mixing oil tube paints and creating differnt washes! :)
Hey Byron! My recommendation for some technical/how to videos would be something Blood Bowl related. Small model count, creating fun, vibrant team uniforms, tying in a cohesive themes while giving each model a unique feel. More interesting basing ideas beyond static grass with white lines. Could also do some of your dry brushing tutorials for some of the stadia, scoreboard huts that are available. Personally I'm also not experienced with many of the water transfers you get for the players (numbers, team badges etc) so tips on how best to use those would be great. Keep up the positive, friendly energy on the channel.
🐀🐀 Thank you for a well explained overview 😃 🐀🐀
I have no idea why after they dry 24h they become almost white ( I was testing "Decay of Death") in the recesses and loose all the pigment effect of shade definiton. It's almost like pigment evaporates and white residue stays. Any idea what I am doing wrong here?
A friend and I are really into frostgrave atm. Would love a video comparing some different snow products and how to use each one!
Nice review! I’d like to see a drybrush tutorial for OSL on a grimdark piece so that it still keeps that dark and moody style and not look too out of place!
Awesome! Thank you😊
Our pleasure, buddy :)
First time I've seen these inks, and you've kind of sold them to me. Always thought enamel and oil washes were daunting.
Absolutely nothing to worry about! Pick a simple start like this one, have a play, and enjoy it :).
Man those inks looked great. I would love to try them out unfortunately none of my local hobby shops have it yet. I would love to see more of these sorts of blended method videos from you all where you try these sorts of products to produce interesting results.
Where are you from buddy? Let us know in another comment, replies get lost
@@ArtisOpus Tampa, Florida! I got to meet some of your team at LVO this January and have loved your brush and board. It's really helpful in upping my dry brushing.
Bkw long did you leave the ash on before using the cotton bud?
Villainy Ink is by far the best product I've used in a long time, totally brought my models up to another level and they're super easy to use, almost zero effort to put out near professional grade models
Absolute love your videos and tutorials, I have just received today my first set of Artis Opus series D set and dry pallet, Cant wait to put these in to action later. You have gave me great inspiration to better my painting techniques, find it relaxing listening to your content while painting. I would love to see you paint "Archaon ever chosen" as I'm massive Slaves To Darkness player. Keep up the great work.
They are superb. Nuln oil is dead to me since trying out ichor of the damned. I've painted a few minis just using these washes alone and the results are great.
I would love to see a comparison video between Oils, Inks and classic Washes, trying to bring out the best of all of them and going over what are the up and downsides of them. This would really help to pick the right tool for the job! Doing it on a metallic base (stormcast or 30k metallic legion or admech) would be a bonus!
This is an informative and concise video your style and knowledge of your craft is appreciated, Personally when a product is being pushed by all the vapid ass influencers at the same time its a big turn off.
I like the result but... isn't that one of the female bodies in the set?
It is 😅
Personally, for me, grimdark isn't what the grimdark compendium puts out. Slathering the mini in enamels and oils and making it all blend together and loose details does not = grimdark. Trovarions grimdark is actually grimdark as its still very readable from a distance but grim and dark. Not saying you can't use these or shouldn't, they look great but use them in a way that wont destroy the mini
Agreed
What do you think of our approach here?
@ArtisOpus this is great imo. I see people say it's not grimdark, but it does fit it nicely. It's desaturated, dark, but still visible. No details lost. I'll have to get the inks as I do a lot of grimdark and they are nice products it seems
This could be my new favourite way for painting stormcast, I recently discovered Grimdark and this is the best video I've seen yet, I've always enjoyed watching you paint Stormcasts and replicated your methods, this is another superb set of examples on how to get fantastic looking models
Cheers buddy! There's a lot you could do to adjust this to suit your needs too, whatever they are :). A bit of basing and some weathering on the feet 🤌🤌
Using cotton to wipe the oils destroy the beautiful, natural transitions. Instead, paint the base layers way brighter and let the oils bring it down. Hope it makes sense
It does! But what if I want them mainly in the recesses?
Are the Villainy Inks really worth 13 quid a bottle when Soilworks are only 4 quid ? Would be good to see a comparison video
Good question, these seem to work fantastically, and I like that they have a slightly different finish to most, along with the intelligent selection. I don't imagine I will run out of any unless I start airbrushing it all over and producing armies... but you could say that about most comparable products apart from dirty down:)
I'd like a video on quickly painting an army. Especially practical bits like keeping your paint on the dry pallet moist. I find it hard to maintain the dry brush and sponge effectively if I paint for longer than ~20(?) minutes. Have started putting my colours on a wet pallet if a long session. How do you 'go back' if you realise you missed a step on some models (or like, missed a leg on one model). That sort of thing. How do you also pick the colour scheme and the basing approach? And how do you make sure you can replicate what you've done for new additions in the future?
What's the benefits of these over premixing oil and spirits in dropper bottles?
That you don't have to do that mainly 😅. Probably the finish is the most unique aspect when compared to other options, although you could use different mediums or varnishes of course
@@ArtisOpus haha fair enough!
How do you think these inks compare with an oil paint wash?
Fairly comparable, obviously if you are mixing yourself you can make things more/less strong easily, which is countered bu these being consistent always and saving effort. Just worth considering what your typical uses are, and what suits you most. Plus the crimson is 🤌🤌🤌🥰
I'd love to see you review the Vallejo color shift paints. I have another brand of them that are ok, but wondering if the Vallejo ones might be worth it.
Mmm anything that has to do with villainy I’m here for .
🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️☠️🦜!
its like £13 a bottle, fk that
Looks nice mate but that’s the female stormcast body so that head on there is abit odd
You Sir, are correct. He has big pectorals from all that hammer work...?
I have to nitpick a little and tell you that's a women's torso you're using
I'm not going to deny that 😅
Selfish review/tutorial recommendation: cracked earth basing, specifically for making large cracks. I'm planning to base my Skaven from Skaventide with big glowing green cracks as though the ground is about to tear itself apart with warpstone energy, but having trouble getting good/consistent results. The typical GW products seem to be thinner and give smaller cracks, I've tried following Trovarion's method using Golden Crackle Paste, and Midwinter Minis' method using corn starch, and a combination of the two, and have had some decent results, but equally many failures, even from base to base using the same method - it feels very random. So yeah, would really appreciate some help figuring out the secret!
I would like to see some additional OSL tutorials to compliment the first one you posted. With the new Skaven models on the way, I’d love to see how you would approach an OSL effect on more complex shapes or from multiple angles. For example, how would you go about representing the glow of warpstone from below and the light from a burning torch or brazier above? The channel is great, and I always learn a ton. Thanks!
I would have liked to try these but the prices are prohibitively high when there are so many enamel wash products out there from various brands. and there's also the infinite supply method in oil paints and mineral spirits
This video feel like it was made for me specifically. I just got the villainy inks set and am about to buy the stormcast spearhead box. Thanks for ideas!
Yeah, boy! Let us know what you decide to do with them both :)
I am really enjoying your videos! I'd love to see a video about basing with different techniques and using and showing how to apply grass flock (maybe static), different tufts, leaf litter, plants...
I love these villainy inks! I use oil washes and AK, but his colours really fill some colour voids. I love the crimson and coelia. And he really uses good quality products for his binders and media.
My tip - dont be scared to mix contrast paints (or any paing for that matter) on the model itself. The smoother graident and visual punch is more familier to the human eye especially in skin tones where they are very rarely uniform
Thanks for the video. I picked up a set of villany Inks at UKGE from Element Games. I have been playing with them for a few weeks now, mainly on my flesh eater courts. They look great over metalic. I may have to grim up the new stormcast using this method. As for future tutorials, I would like to see more weathering, such as dust rust or grime techniques.
They look great, but nothing I can’t achieve without shades and contrasts from the other brands.
Can’t watch unless the sound is off 😂He always sounds like he’s just woken up 😂
cool info i may have to buy now mahalo
Nice video. Have you used oils and just created your own washes? I do that for most of my effects like oil, patina, etc.
Hey wait a second... isn't that a female body?
I would like to see you try dry brushing with oil paint. NotJustMecha mentioned it gave very very smooth results.
Would be cool to see some different ideas in how to paint Stormcast Eternal armor effects in different ways other than metallics. Say things like non metallic metal, or things like stone like armor ideas. Just some creative effects and how to bull them off
